Ileostomians
Ileostomians are individuals who have undergone a surgical procedure called an ileostomy. This procedure involves creating an opening, or stoma, on the abdomen that connects to the ileum, which is the final section of the small intestine. The purpose of an ileostomy is to divert fecal matter from the body when the colon or rectum is diseased, damaged, or removed. This can be necessary due to conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis), colon cancer, bowel obstruction, or trauma.
