Ikwerre
The Ikwerre are a Niger-Congo ethnic group based in Rivers State, Nigeria. Their traditional homeland centers on Port Harcourt and its surrounding communities, where they are one of the region’s most numerous and influential groups. The Ikwerre are part of the wider Igboid family and speak the Ikwerre language, which has several dialects and is related to Igbo. In daily life, many Ikwerre people are multilingual, commonly using English and Nigerian Pidgin alongside Ikwerre in community settings.
