ITV1

ITV1 is the flagship terrestrial television channel in the United Kingdom operated by ITV plc. It was launched on 22 September 1955 as ITV (Independent Television), making it the first commercial television network in Britain and a competitor to the BBC. The channel has undergone several branding changes throughout its history, including Thames Television, London Weekend Television, and Granada Television, which were regional broadcasters that formed part of the ITV network. In 2002, the network was rebranded as ITV1, aiming to create a unified national identity.

ITV1 broadcasts a wide range of programming, including drama, entertainment, news, current affairs, and reality shows. It is known for popular dramas such as Coronation Street and Emmerdale, as well as entertainment programs like Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor. The channel also provides regional news services across England, Wales, and the Channel Islands, delivered by ITV News. ITV1 is funded primarily through advertising revenue. In recent years, ITV plc has also expanded its digital offerings with the launch of the ITV Hub streaming service, which allows viewers to watch live television and catch up on missed programs.
