IRVssä is a term that refers to a specific type of voting system. It is an acronym that stands for Instant Runoff Voting. This voting method is also known by several other names, including ranked-choice voting or preferential voting. The core concept of IRVssä is to allow voters to rank candidates in order of preference rather than selecting just one.

When a voter uses IRVssä, they mark their first choice, second choice, third choice, and so on. If no candidate receives a majority of the first-choice votes, the candidate with the fewest first-choice votes is eliminated. The votes for the eliminated candidate are then redistributed to the voters' next highest-ranked choice. This process continues in rounds until one candidate achieves a majority of the remaining votes. The goal of IRVssä is to elect a candidate who has broader support among the electorate, avoiding situations where a candidate wins with a small plurality of votes in a race with multiple contenders.
