IONIQ

Ioniq is a line of electrified vehicles produced by Hyundai Motor Company. The name is used for Hyundai's hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric models and later for a dedicated electric-vehicle brand.

Launched in 2016, the Hyundai Ioniq family originally consisted of three variants based on a single aerodynamic hatchback: Ioniq Hybrid, Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid, and Ioniq Electric. The intent was to offer a highly efficient vehicle with multiple electrified powertrains on a common platform.

In the early 2020s, Hyundai reorganized Ioniq into a standalone electric-vehicle brand. The first models under the brand were the Ioniq 5, a compact crossover built on the E-GMP platform with 800-volt architecture and features such as fast charging and vehicle-to-load support; followed by the Ioniq 6, an electric sedan on the same platform. A larger Ioniq 7 has been announced for future development.

The Ioniq family reflects Hyundai's broader electrification strategy, aiming for efficiency and technology leadership in electric mobility. The original Ioniq hybrids and electric remained part of Hyundai's product lineup alongside the dedicated Ioniq brand.
