Composition: The model envisions a catalytic core subunit, designated III-Cat, that carries the active site, paired with regulatory and scaffolding subunits (III-Reg and III-Scaf). The regulatory subunits modulate catalytic activity in response to cellular signals, while the scaffolding subunit promotes proper assembly and stabilizes inter-subunit contacts.
