IHRsäännökset
IHRsäännökset refers to the International Health Regulations (IHR) in Finnish. The IHR are a legally binding international agreement adopted by the World Health Organization (WHO) Member States. The primary aim of the IHR is to prevent, protect against, control, and provide a public health response to the international spread of disease in ways that are commensurate with and restricted to public health risks, and which avoid unnecessary interference with international traffic and trade. The regulations require countries to notify the WHO of any potential international public health emergencies of significance. This includes reporting on disease outbreaks and other health events that could pose a risk to global public health. Countries are also obligated to develop and maintain core public health capacities that are essential for detecting, assessing, reporting, and responding to public health events. These capacities include surveillance systems, laboratory services, and trained personnel. The IHR underwent significant revision following the SARS outbreak in 2003 and were adopted in 2005. They provide a framework for international cooperation and coordination during health emergencies, aiming to strengthen global health security.
