Høyfjæresonen
Høyfjæresonen, also known as the upper eulittoral or the barnacle zone, is a marine ecological zone. It is situated at the very top of the intertidal zone, the area between high tide and low tide. This region is characterized by its infrequent submersion, typically only being flooded during exceptionally high tides or storms. Consequently, life in the høyfjæresonen must be highly adapted to survive long periods of exposure to air, desiccation, and fluctuating temperatures.
