Häälabi

Häälabi is a traditional Estonian wedding custom. It refers to the practice of the groom's side of the family, often accompanied by friends and a musician, traveling to the bride's home to formally request her hand in marriage. This procession is typically festive and involves various rituals and symbolic gestures.

The häälabi usually arrives with a significant amount of food, drink, and gifts for the bride's family. Before the bride's father can agree to the marriage, the groom and his entourage often have to overcome a series of playful challenges or "tests."
