Hányadrész

Hányadrész is a Hungarian word that translates to "fraction" or "part" in English. It is commonly used in mathematics to represent a part of a whole. A hányadrész is typically expressed as a ratio of two integers, where the top number is called the numerator and the bottom number is called the denominator. The denominator indicates the total number of equal parts into which the whole is divided, and the numerator indicates how many of those parts are being considered.

For example, if a cake is divided into 8 equal slices, and you eat 3 of them, you have eaten three-eighths of the cake. In Hungarian, this would be expressed as "három nyolcad rész," or simply a hányadrész of 3/8. Hányadrészek can be proper, where the numerator is smaller than the denominator, or improper, where the numerator is equal to or larger than the denominator. Mixed numbers, which combine a whole number and a proper hányadrész, are also a common concept. The understanding and manipulation of hányadrészek are fundamental to arithmetic and algebra.
