Hydrideboryl refers to a chemical species containing a boron-hydrogen (B-H) bond, where hydrogen acts as a hydride. This class of compounds encompasses a wide range of substances, from simple boranes like diborane (B2H6) to more complex organoboranes and borohydride salts. The B-H bond is typically polar, with hydrogen carrying a partial negative charge due to boron's electronegativity. This polarity contributes to the reactivity of hydrideboryl compounds, making them useful as reducing agents and in hydroboration reactions.

Boranes, the simplest hydrideboryls, consist only of boron and hydrogen. Their structures can be complex and exhibit unique bonding characteristics.
