Hydratformaldehyd

Hydratformaldehyd is a term that refers to a hydrated form of formaldehyde. Formaldehyde, a simple organic compound with the chemical formula CH₂O, is a colorless gas with a pungent odor. In aqueous solutions, formaldehyde exists in equilibrium with its hydrated form, methylene glycol (CH₂(OH)₂). This equilibrium is pH-dependent, with the hydrated form being more prevalent in neutral or alkaline conditions. While often referred to as hydratformaldehyd, it is more accurately described as an aqueous solution of formaldehyde containing significant amounts of methylene glycol.
