Hydrataatteina

Hydrataatteina is a Finnish term that can be translated to "as hydrates" or "in hydrated form." It refers to a substance that has incorporated water molecules into its crystal structure. This water is often referred to as water of crystallization.

Many inorganic salts, for example, can exist as both anhydrous (without water) and hydrated forms. The presence of water molecules within the crystal lattice can affect the physical properties of the compound, such as its color, solubility, and melting point. For instance, copper sulfate can exist as anhydrous copper sulfate (CuSO4), which is a white powder, and as copper sulfate pentahydrate (CuSO4·5H2O), which is a blue crystalline solid.
