Hyökkäyslentokoneiden, known in English as attack aircraft, are military aircraft designed primarily for engaging enemy ground targets. These aircraft are specialized for close air support (CAS), where they provide direct assistance to ground troops by attacking enemy positions, vehicles, and personnel. Unlike fighter jets, which are designed for air-to-air combat, attack aircraft prioritize survivability in low-altitude flight and the ability to carry a substantial payload of bombs and missiles.
