Hukkaventiloin

Hukkaventiloin, often translated as "over-ventilation" or "super-ventilation," refers to a situation where ventilation systems in buildings operate at a rate exceeding the intended or required levels for occupant comfort, health, and energy efficiency. This excessive airflow can lead to a variety of negative consequences.

One primary concern is increased energy consumption. When ventilation systems move more air than necessary, they require more energy to operate fans and to condition the incoming air, whether it's heating or cooling. This can significantly inflate operational costs and contribute to a larger carbon footprint for the building.

From a comfort perspective, hukkaventiloin can result in drafts and an uncomfortable feeling of dryness, especially in colder climates where the incoming air is significantly drier than the indoor air. In warmer, humid climates, over-ventilation can also exacerbate humidity control issues.
