Hsidoksilla

Hsidoksilla is a small village and parish in the northern part of Nordhaven Province, in Veridia. It lies on a gentle hillside near the Tern River and is part of the municipality of Kaarni. The name is of local origin; etymology is uncertain, though scholars sometimes suggest a compound meaning "hidden stones".

The surrounding landscape is temperate and heavily wooded, with a maritime influence that brings wet winters and mild summers. The population is about 1,400 residents. The local economy has shifted from historic quarrying and forestry to a mix of agriculture, small-scale manufacturing, and rural tourism.

Hsidoksilla has a long settled history, with archaeological finds dating to the medieval period. The village received official parish rights in the 14th century and gained some municipal authority in the 19th century, before administrative reform integrated it into the Kaarni municipal structure.

Local governance is provided by the village council in coordination with district authorities, and services include a primary school, a small health clinic, and a cultural center. Culturally, Hsidoksilla hosts an annual harvest festival and maintains several traditional crafts, including woodwork and tapestry.

Notable landmarks include the Stone Circle, a megalithic site attributed to Bronze Age communities; the Old Quarry Trail; and the Church of St. Alderin, dating to the 15th century.
