Hollandse
Hollandse is an adjective in the Dutch language indicating origin from Holland or, more broadly, from the Netherlands. Historically, Holland referred to the coastal region that comprises the two provinces of North Holland and South Holland, which were economically and politically dominant within the Dutch Republic. Because of this prominence, the term Hollandse has appeared in a wide range of cultural and historical contexts, and it remains in use in modern Dutch to suggest Dutch origin or character.
In everyday usage, Hollandse appears in compound nouns and phrases such as Hollandse kaas (Dutch cheese), Hollandse
In contemporary standard Dutch, the preferred adjective for things from the Netherlands is Nederlandse or Nederlands.
