Hiilihappokäsittelyä, also known as carbonation treatment, is a method used to introduce carbon dioxide into various materials. In the context of beverages, it refers to the process of dissolving carbon dioxide gas into water or other liquids under pressure to create a fizzy or effervescent product. This is commonly done in the production of soft drinks, sparkling water, beer, and champagne. The dissolved carbon dioxide forms carbonic acid, which provides the characteristic tangy taste and the bubbling sensation when the pressure is released.
