Hexakisacetato

Hexakisacetato is a rare mineral composed of copper and acetate. Its chemical formula is Cu2(CH3COO)4(OH)2·2H2O. It is characterized by its vibrant blue-green color and can be found in the oxidized zones of copper deposits.

The mineral was first discovered in the Kipushi Mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is often found associated with other copper minerals such as malachite and azurite. Hexakisacetato is typically formed through the weathering of copper-bearing rocks.

Crystals of hexakisacetato are usually small and prismatic, or they can occur in granular or powdery aggregates. Its hardness is relatively low, typically around 2.5 on the Mohs scale. Due to its rarity and striking color, hexakisacetato is of interest to mineral collectors. It is not an economically significant ore mineral.
