Hermoylle is a fictional coastal city-state in the archipelago of the southern seas within the continent of Aeloria. It sits on a natural harbor surrounded by limestone cliffs and mangrove wetlands, with the citadel hill overlooking the port.

The name Hermoylle appears to be of mixed origin in the regional lore; scholars suggest a blend of maritime trade terms and a local word for shelter.

Historically, Hermoylle developed as a trading hub in late antiquity, prospered under seafaring guilds, and maintained autonomy during the medieval era. It endured raids by corsairs and rebuilt its stone fortifications, eventually joining the Confederation of Valmere.

Government is by a Council of Twelve, with a magistrate known as the Harboror who serves a fixed term. The council chairs public assemblies and oversees the port, customs, and defense.

The economy centers on fishing and shipbuilding, but now includes crafts, maritime services, spice and timber trade, and tourism. The city remains a major stop for regional traders along the southern sea lanes.

Culturally, Hermoylle hosts a Tide Festival and maintains a distinct Hermoyllin dialect. Local artisans carve wooden masks, and seafood cuisine is prominent in daily life.

Notable sites include the Coral Gate, Granite Bridge, and the Citadel Hill. Notable residents include cartographer Ilera Halden and poet Jorin Val.
