Hemodialízishez

Hemodialízishez is the Hungarian word for "for hemodialysis." Hemodialysis is a medical procedure used to remove waste products and excess fluid from the blood when the kidneys are unable to perform these functions adequately. This condition is known as kidney failure or end-stage renal disease (ESRD).

The process involves circulating the patient's blood through an artificial kidney, or dialyzer. The dialyzer contains a special filter that separates waste products, such as urea and creatinine, and excess electrolytes and fluid from the blood. The cleaned blood is then returned to the body.

Hemodialysis is typically performed in a hospital or a specialized dialysis center, although home hemodialysis is also an option for some patients. Patients usually undergo hemodialysis three times a week for several hours each session. Access to the bloodstream is usually established through an arteriovenous (AV) fistula, an AV graft, or a central venous catheter.

The decision to start hemodialysis is a significant one, and it is made in consultation with a nephrologist, a doctor specializing in kidney diseases. While hemodialysis can be a life-sustaining treatment, it requires a significant commitment from the patient and can have various side effects and complications.
