Heliotsentristliku

Heliotsentristliku refers to a heliocentric model of the universe. This is a cosmological model in which the Sun is at the center and all planets, including Earth, revolve around it. This contrasts with the geocentric model, which places the Earth at the center.

The heliocentric view gained significant traction with the work of Nicolaus Copernicus in the 16th century. His publication, De revolutionibus orbium coelestium, proposed a detailed mathematical model of a Sun-centered solar system. This challenged the prevailing Aristotelian and Ptolemaic geocentric systems that had dominated astronomical thought for centuries.

Further observational evidence and theoretical advancements by astronomers like Johannes Kepler, Galileo Galilei, and Isaac Newton solidified the heliocentric model. Kepler's laws of planetary motion, which described elliptical orbits, and Galileo's telescopic observations of Jupiter's moons and Venus's phases provided crucial support. Newton's law of universal gravitation offered a physical explanation for why planets orbit the Sun.

The heliocentric model is now the accepted scientific understanding of our solar system. It has been instrumental in the development of modern astronomy and physics, enabling accurate predictions of celestial events and a deeper understanding of the cosmos.
