Heijningen

Heijningen is a village in the province of North Brabant, Netherlands. It is part of the municipality of Woensdrecht and is situated in the northwestern part of the province, close to the border with Zeeland. Historically, Heijningen was an independent municipality before merging with Woensdrecht in 1997. The village's name is believed to have originated from "hei," meaning heathland, and "ingen," a common suffix in Dutch place names.

The area around Heijningen is characterized by its agricultural landscape, with fields and meadows dominating the surroundings. Like many villages in this region, its development was influenced by the reclamation of polder land.
