Hebrus

Hebrus refers to a river in Thrace, a historical region in southeastern Europe. Today, this river is known by the name Maritsa. It originates in the Rila Mountains of Bulgaria and flows through Bulgaria, Greece, and Turkey before emptying into the Aegean Sea. The Hebrus has been a significant geographical feature for centuries, influencing trade routes and settlements in the region.

One notable story involves Orpheus, the legendary musician, whose severed head and lyre were cast into the Hebrus after his death. The river is said to have carried them down to the sea.
