Headandeyestalk

Headandeyestalk refers to a morphological configuration in which the head bears prominent ocular stalks with the eyes at the distal end. In organisms with this feature, the eyes are mounted on flexible or rigid stalks that extend from the head capsule, allowing movement independent of the head's orientation.

Description: The stalks may be retractable or permanently extended; length and orientation vary among species; stalked eyes can be paired bilaterally; in some lineages, stalks are multi-segmented or contain protective cuticle.

Distribution: Eye stalks are common in crustaceans such as many decapods, and are observed in various arthropod groups.
