Haura

Haura is a fictional coastal town in the archipelago of Valara, created as a setting for fantasy literature and tabletop role-playing. The town lies on a sheltered inlet along the southern coast of the island of Neris, with a temperate-subtropical climate.

It covers roughly 45 square kilometers and has a population of about 12,000 residents, most of whom are engaged in fishing, trade, or crafts. Haura is administered as part of the Valaran Union, with a mayor-council government and a local port authority that regulates maritime activity.

Historically, Haura emerged as a fishing village in the 12th century and grew into a regional trading hub by the 15th century. A 1720 volcanic eruption reshaped its coastline, after which the town rebuilt around the harbor and a stone-quay district.

The economy centers on sustainable fisheries, ship repair, and seasonal tourism tied to the harbor festival.

Culturally, Haura is known for its seafood cuisine, weekly markets, and a lighthouse that dates to the 18th century. The town hosts its annual Harbor Festival in late summer, featuring music, crafts, and a maritime parade. Notable features include the Old Market, the Haura Lighthouse, and the cliffside promontory known as Watch Point, a popular lookout.
