Hartsisäiliön

Hartsisäiliön, often translated as resin tank, is a component found in some water treatment systems, particularly those utilizing ion exchange technology. Its primary function is to hold the ion exchange resin, which is the active material responsible for removing dissolved minerals and ions from water. These tanks are typically constructed from durable materials like fiberglass-reinforced plastic or stainless steel to withstand the pressure and chemical environment of the water treatment process.

Within the hartsisäiliö, water flows through the bed of ion exchange resin. As the water passes, specific ions, such as calcium and magnesium (responsible for water hardness), are attracted to and captured by the resin. In return, the resin releases less objectionable ions, commonly sodium or hydrogen. Over time, the resin becomes saturated with the removed ions and loses its effectiveness. At this point, the tank undergoes a regeneration cycle.

The regeneration process involves flushing the hartsisäiliö with a concentrated brine solution (for sodium-based resins) or an acid solution (for hydrogen-based resins). This solution displaces the captured ions from the resin, allowing them to be rinsed away, and restores the resin's capacity to remove hardness-causing minerals from subsequent water flows. The design and size of the hartsisäiliö are crucial for efficient water treatment, influencing the capacity of the system and the frequency of regeneration cycles.
