Hardin-Simmons University is a private Christian university in Abilene, Texas. It is affiliated with the Baptist denomination. Founded in 1891, it was originally known as Frontier College. The university's name was changed to Hardin-Simmons in honor of its early benefactors, John G. Hardin and his wife, Jane Huckins Hardin, and Anthony and Eliza Beaumont Simmons.
