Harboron

Harboron is a fictional coastal city-state and major port positioned at the mouth of the Sorel River along the southern coast of the federation of Lyria. Its natural harbor has long shaped its economy, serving as a hub for shipping, shipyards, and trade. The city covers a compact urban core with surrounding hills and a waterfront district, and it has a population of roughly 520,000 residents. The official language is Harboronian, with widespread use of Lyran and English in commerce and diplomacy.

Founded as a fishing village, Harboron expanded after receiving a royal charter in the 15th century and grew through the Age of Sail. It became a major merchant center with the rise of port industries, and in the 20th century it transitioned to container shipping and diversified services. Today the city is a constitutional republic governed by a city council and an elected mayor; it forms part of the United Federation of Lyria.

The economy centers on maritime logistics, ship repair, and related services, complemented by fisheries, tourism, and light manufacturing. The port operates deep-water berths, container terminals, and warehousing facilities, supported by rail and road connections. Harboron is served by an international airport on the adjacent peninsula and a regional rail network that links it with neighboring cities and islands.

Cultural life centers on its harbor-side districts and museums, with the annual Harboron Maritime Festival highlighting ship heritage and seafood cuisine. Notable institutions include Harboron University and the Maritime Institute. Landmarks include the Harboron Lighthouse, the Old Dock Quarter, and the Oceanic Aquarium.
