Hapoel

Hapoel is a major sports club in Israel, with a long and rich history. The name "Hapoel" translates to "The Worker" in Hebrew, reflecting its origins within the Zionist socialist movement and the Histadrut labor federation. Founded in 1924, Hapoel initially aimed to promote sports among workers and foster a sense of community and national identity.

Over the decades, Hapoel has grown into a multi-sport organization with numerous branches across Israel. It is most famous for its basketball and football (soccer) teams, which have achieved considerable success both domestically and internationally. Hapoel Tel Aviv, in particular, is one of the most prominent football clubs in Israel, having won multiple league championships and state cups. The Hapoel Jerusalem basketball team is also a powerhouse in Israeli basketball, with a dedicated fanbase.
