Handelsgymnasiet

Handelsgymnasiet, often translated as "Business College" or "Commercial Gymnasium," is a type of upper secondary school in Denmark. It offers a general academic education with a strong focus on business, economics, and languages. Students typically attend Handelsgymnasiet after completing their lower secondary education (Folkeskolen) and usually at the age of 16.

The program typically lasts for three years and leads to the Higher Commercial Examination (Højere Handelseksamen or HHX). This qualification is equivalent to the general university entrance examination (Studentereksamen or STX) and allows graduates to pursue higher education at universities, business schools, or other tertiary institutions. The curriculum includes subjects such as economics, marketing, accounting, law, and foreign languages, alongside standard subjects like Danish and history.

Handelsgymnasiet aims to provide students with a broad understanding of the business world and equip them with the skills necessary for careers in various commercial and administrative fields. Graduates can also choose to enter the workforce directly, often in roles within sales, administration, or customer service. The educational approach often emphasizes practical application and case studies to prepare students for real-world business challenges.
