Halspulsåder, also known as carotid arteries, are major blood vessels located on either side of the neck, just below the jawbone. They are responsible for supplying oxygenated blood to the brain and other vital organs. The right carotid artery typically supplies blood to the right side of the head and neck, while the left carotid artery supplies blood to the left side. The common carotid artery branches into the internal carotid artery and the external carotid artery. The internal carotid artery continues to supply blood to the brain, while the external carotid artery provides blood to the face and neck.
