Hallituskoalitioihin refers to the process and outcome of forming a coalition government in Finland. The Finnish parliamentary system is based on a proportional representation system, which often results in multiple parties needing to form a coalition to gain a majority in the Eduskunta (the Finnish Parliament). This process is known as hallituskoalitioihin.

The formation of a coalition government typically begins after the general elections. The parties that have won seats in the Eduskunta negotiate to form a coalition. The negotiations involve discussions on policy priorities, the distribution of ministerial portfolios, and the formation of a government program. The negotiations can be complex and time-consuming, as the parties must find common ground on various issues.

Once a coalition agreement is reached, the parties appoint a prime minister, who is then responsible for forming the government. The prime minister selects ministers from their respective parties to form the cabinet. The cabinet is then sworn in by the President of Finland, marking the official start of the new government's term.

The coalition government is expected to work together to implement the agreed-upon policies and represent the interests of all the parties involved. The duration of a coalition government is typically four years, coinciding with the parliamentary term. However, the government can be dissolved earlier if a motion of no confidence is passed in the Eduskunta or if the prime minister resigns. In such cases, new elections are called, and the process of forming a new coalition government begins anew.
