Halfconsciousness
Halfconsciousness is a nonstandard term describing a state in which a person is only partially aware of their surroundings and only intermittently responsive. It is not a formal medical diagnosis but is sometimes used in clinical notes or lay descriptions to indicate a level of impairment between full wakefulness and unconsciousness. In practice, people described as half-conscious may be drowsy, mildly sedated, or transitioning between sleep and wakefulness.
The term sits along a spectrum of consciousness that ranges from full alertness to deep coma. Related
