To tie a Halbschlagknoten, start by threading the rope through the object you wish to secure. Pass the working end of the rope over the standing part, creating a loop. Bring the working end back through the loop, pulling it tight. Pass the working end over the standing part again, creating a second loop. Bring the working end back through this second loop, pulling it tight. Finally, pass the working end over the standing part one last time, creating a third loop. Bring the working end back through this third loop, pulling it tight to secure the knot.
