Haistmisnärves, also known as the olfactory nerve, is the first cranial nerve. It is responsible for the sense of smell. The olfactory nerve is unique among the cranial nerves as it is not derived from the brainstem. Instead, it originates from the olfactory bulb, which is located at the anterior part of the brain.
