Hadosztály

Hadosztály is a Hungarian term referring to a military formation known as a division in English. Historically, a hadosztály has been a large unit within an army, typically comprising several regiments or brigades, and often including supporting arms such as artillery, engineers, and logistical units. The exact composition and size of a hadosztály have varied significantly throughout history and across different military doctrines, but it generally represents a self-sufficient fighting force capable of independent operations or as a component of a larger army corps or army.

In the context of the Hungarian Army, the hadosztály was a standard organizational structure for much of the 20th century. During the interwar period and World War II, Hungarian hadosztályok were equipped and organized according to the prevailing military technologies and tactical concepts of the time. Post-war, with the shift in military alliances and technologies, the organization and role of the hadosztály underwent further changes.
