Ho-Oh is a Legendary Pokémon in the Pokémon series, introduced in Generation II. It is a Fire/Flying-type Pokémon known as the Rainbow Pokémon. Ho-Oh resembles a phoenix with multicolored plumage and a tail that glows with many colors. In the lore of the main series games, Ho-Oh is said to rise from ashes when a true-hearted person achieves happiness, and its appearance is associated with rainbows and renewal. In competitive play and the Pokémon animated series, Ho-Oh is depicted as a rare, highly sought-after Legendary Pokémon with strong stats and a distinct Rainbow-colored attribute. In the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Ho-Oh has been printed on several Fire-type cards, typically emphasizing its fiery power and rainbow motif.

Ho-Oh's name derives from the Japanese Houō, the phoenix of East Asian mythology, and the English spelling reflects its phoenix-like nature and rainbow coloration.
