HDIvärden

HDIvärden is a municipality and urban locality in the fictional country of Nordmark, located in the northern coastal region along the Baltic-adjacent archipelago. The municipality covers about 83 square kilometers and had a population of around 8,200 in 2023. The town center sits on a small peninsula, with forest inland and a network of lakes that attract boating and hiking.

HDIvärden traces its origins to medieval trade routes and timber processing. The arrival of the railway in the late 19th century spurred growth, and municipal reforms in the 1970s merged nearby parishes into the present HDIvärden municipality. The town preserves a historical core and a harbor district that reflect its maritime heritage.

Economy is diversified: forestry and wood products, light manufacturing, and services for residents and visitors. Tourism centers on outdoor recreation, sailing, and cultural heritage sites. The area is served by a regional rail link, a major road, and a local bus network. A 40-meter viewing tower known as the HDI Tower is a local landmark.

Government is a unicameral municipal council with an elected mayor. The administration emphasizes sustainability, public health, and education. HDIvärden operates two primary schools and one secondary school, with vocational programs available through nearby institutions. The municipal library and cultural center host exhibitions, lectures, and workshops.

The population is predominantly Swedish-speaking, with minority communities represented. Cultural life centers on the annual midsummer festival and the historic harbor district. Notable sites include the 18th-century Old Town Hall and the HDI Heritage Museum.
