Géochimiques

Géochimiques refers to processes and phenomena related to the chemical composition and behavior of the Earth and other celestial bodies. It encompasses the study of the distribution, abundance, and migration of chemical elements and their isotopes within the Earth's crust, mantle, core, atmosphere, and hydrosphere. Geochemists investigate the formation and evolution of rocks, minerals, and natural waters, as well as the cycles of elements through different Earth systems. This field utilizes principles from chemistry, physics, geology, and biology to understand the chemical transformations that occur on Earth.

Key areas within geochemistry include cosmochemistry, which studies the chemical composition of the universe and extraterrestrial materials; organic geochemistry, focusing on the role of organic compounds in geological processes; and aqueous geochemistry, examining the chemistry of natural waters. Geochemical techniques are employed in various applications, such as mineral exploration, environmental monitoring, understanding climate change, and studying planetary evolution. By analyzing the chemical signatures preserved in rocks and minerals, geochemists can reconstruct past environments and predict future geological events.
