This includes the nominal major diameter in millimeters, followed by the letter 'M', and then the pitch in millimeters. For example, M10x1.5 indicates a metric thread with a nominal diameter of 10 millimeters and a pitch of 1.5 millimeters. If the thread is a standard coarse pitch, the pitch value may be omitted. Fine pitch threads will always specify the pitch.
