Gâve

Gâve is an administrative region in Moldova, bordering the country of Ukraine. Located in the north of Moldova, Gâve is situated in the northeastern part of the country's Gagauz Autonomous Region. The region is known for its diverse cultural and linguistic heritage, with significant populations of Gagauz, Ukrainians, Russians, and Moldovans. This ethnic diversity has contributed to the region's complex history and politics.

The administrative center of Gâve is the village of Svetlogorsk. According to the 2004 Moldovan census, the population of the region is estimated to be around 15,693, who live in a relatively sparsely populated area of 436 square kilometers. Gâve is largely an agricultural region, with significant production of wheat, sunflowers, and other crops.

It is worth noting that Gâve is also part of the Transnistrian conflict, a decades-long dispute between the Gagauz Autonomous Region and the breakaway government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The region's status and affiliation have undergone significant changes over the years, with multiple attempts at resolving the conflict through diplomatic means. Ongoing international efforts aim to resolve the disputed territorial status and prevent further escalation of tensions in the region.
