Gurira
Gurira is a surname most often encountered in English-language contexts. The most widely known bearer is Danai Gurira, a Zimbabwean-American actress and playwright. Gurira has starred as Michonne on the television series The Walking Dead (2012–2019) and as Okoye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Black Panther (2018) and subsequent films. In addition to acting, she writes plays exploring themes of identity, resilience, and community. Her works include In the Blood (2009) and Eclipsed, a Broadway production that opened in 2016 and focuses on Liberian women; the play received multiple Tony Award nominations.
