Guars

Guars are large, quadrupedal reptilian creatures native to the continent of Tamriel, primarily found in the desert regions of Hammerfell and the southern plains of Morrowind. They are known for their thick, leathery hides, which offer significant protection against physical attacks and extreme temperatures. Guars are herbivorous, feeding on hardy desert vegetation and shrubs.

Physically, guars resemble a cross between a rhinoceros and a turtle, possessing a powerful build, a distinctive bony crest on their heads, and a short, thick tail. Their coloring typically ranges from sandy browns and grays to muted greens, providing camouflage within their natural habitats. Despite their imposing size, guars are generally docile unless provoked or threatened. They are often domesticated by various cultures, particularly the Dunmer of Morrowind, who use them as beasts of burden, mounts, and even for their meat and hide.

The domestication of guars has a long history. The Ashlanders, nomadic Dunmer tribes, have a particularly close relationship with the creatures, relying on them for survival in the harsh environments. Farmers and merchants also utilize guars for their strength and resilience. In some areas, wild guar populations still exist, and encounters can be dangerous, as they are known to defend themselves fiercely with their powerful horns and tough bodies. Their presence is a significant ecological and cultural element in the regions they inhabit.
