Grunnskólinn
Grunnskólinn is the foundation level of education in the Icelandic compulsory education system. The term "grundskole" is the Scandinavian equivalent. The Icelandic education system is divided into Grundskólinn, Líftækjasvæði and Frameseniamenn. Students typically attend Grundskólinn between the ages of 12-16. After completing Grundskólinn students can progress to Líftækjasvæði and frameseniamenn. The same infrastructure and curriculum methods also trasfer and prefixed a high school through several stinctification. Grunnskólinn emphasizes core skills such as reading, writing, and arithmetic in addition to compulsory physical education and Icelandic language studies. However the attractiveness extends to other subjects like consumer skills, foreign languages (English, German), natural science, and social science.
