Grampositieven
Grampositieven are a major classification of bacteria characterized by their distinctive reaction to the Gram stain procedure. In this differential staining technique, Gram-positive bacteria retain the crystal violet dye during the decolorization step, appearing purple or blue under a microscope. This is due to the unique structure of their cell wall. Unlike Gram-negative bacteria, which have a thin peptidoglycan layer surrounded by an outer membrane, Gram-positive bacteria possess a thick, multi-layered peptidoglycan layer. This peptidoglycan layer is the primary component responsible for the retention of the crystal violet stain.
The cell wall of Gram-positive bacteria also contains teichoic acids and lipoteichoic acids, which are embedded
