Gorguts

Gorguts is a Canadian death metal band formed in 1989 in Cowansville, Quebec. The band is known for its complex and dissonant musical style, often incorporating technicality and progressive elements into its sound. Over the years, Gorguts has undergone numerous lineup changes, with guitarist and vocalist Luc Lemay being the sole constant member.

The band's debut album, "Considered Dead," was released in 1991, showcasing a raw and brutal form of death metal. Their second album, "The Erosion of Sanity" (1993), displayed a noticeable progression in their songwriting and technical proficiency. Gorguts gained significant recognition within the death metal scene with their 1998 album, "Obscura." This album is widely regarded as a landmark release, pushing the boundaries of death metal with its avant-garde approach, complex song structures, and dissonant guitar work.

Following "Obscura," the band released "From Wisdom to Hate" in 2001, which continued their exploration of technical and experimental death metal. After a hiatus, Gorguts returned with "Colored Sands" in 2013, an ambitious concept album that further cemented their reputation for innovative and challenging music. Their latest album, "Pleiades' Dust," was released in 2016, continuing their signature sound. Gorguts remains influential, inspiring many bands with their unique approach to extreme metal.
