Golgiendocitózis

Golgiendocitózis refers to a cellular process where material is internalized by a cell through the invagination of the plasma membrane, forming a vesicle. This internalized material is then transported to and processed within the Golgi apparatus. The term itself is a combination of "Golgi apparatus," "endo" (meaning within), and "cytosis" (referring to cellular process). It is a specific type of endocytosis.

This process is distinct from typical endocytosis where vesicles formed at the plasma membrane are usually processed through the endosomal pathway before potentially reaching other organelles. In Golgiendocitózis, the newly formed endocytic vesicles appear to directly fuse with or are transported to the Golgi apparatus, where their contents are sorted, modified, or degraded. The exact mechanisms by which this direct transport occurs are still an area of active research, but it suggests specialized trafficking pathways within the cell.
