Gliniastych

Gliniastych is a Polish adjective meaning clayey or containing clay. It is used in geology, soil science, hydrology and archaeology to describe soils, sediments, and rocks with significant clay mineral content.

Materials described as gliniasty are usually fine-grained and exhibit properties commonly associated with clays, such as plasticity when wet, cohesion, low permeability, and potential for shrink-swell behavior. In practice, the term appears in phrases such as warstwy gliniastych osadów (layers of clayey sediments) or gleba gliniasta (clayey soil). The word is derived from glina (clay) with the adjectival suffix -asty.

Gliniastych is the genitive plural form of gliniasty, used when the noun it modifies is in the genitive plural or in fixed expressions; other forms of the adjective exist to agree with gender and number (for example, gliniasta, gliniaste).
