Gisteraand

Gisteraand is a type of ancient burial mound found in the Netherlands and other parts of Northern Europe. These burial mounds date back to the Late Neolithic period, around 2900-2100 BCE. They are typically constructed from earth and can reach heights of up to 30 meters in some cases.

Gisteraand burial mounds are generally characterized by their circular shape and steep slopes. They are often surrounded by a ditch or moat, which served as a defensive barrier to prevent looting or desecration of the site. The earth used to construct these mounds was often piled on top of a central burial chamber or cairn, where the remains of the deceased and various grave goods were placed.

The gisteraand burial mounds were likely used by the Funnelbeaker culture, a Bronze Age culture known for their elaborate burial rituals.
